Falegnami Brescia has been making chairs in the same workshop for four generations. We work with them on three pieces — the Sand Loveseat, the Olive Bench, and a desk we’re keeping quiet about for now.

11throws leave her loom each week, and not one more.
Graça Monteiro has worked the same wooden floor loom since she was nineteen, in a converted dairy in the north of Portugal. She sets the warp for our Wool Throw by hand, drawing 1,400 threads of lambswool through the heddles one at a time — most of a Monday, every week. Into the selvedge of every throw she weaves a single red thread, so she knows her own work when it comes back to the Lisbon atelier for mending.

Throws end up on sofas, linen on the table, wool under the dog. Things for the home get used hard, so here is how to wash them, and what we do when they wear.

Cool water, mild soap, dry it flat. Belgian linen softens with every wash.

ii.Mend
Pulled thread or split seam? Send it in. We darn it in Lisbon and post it home.

Live with it for 30 days first. Wrong for the room? Send it back.
